STEP 22 – STRESS AND BLOOD PRESSURE

broken image

Stressful situations create changes in blood pressure. This occurs when stress causes a surge of hormones to be released in the body. These hormones cause blood vessels to constrict and the heart to beat faster.

This process allows for optimal performance when encountering a fight-or-flight situation, but as always, it is NOT beneficial for stress that is induced for reasons where a fight-or-flight response is not necessary—for example, the in-laws coming to visit, or preparing for tax season (though you might feel like both fight AND flight during these times!).

Further, stress often causes people to engage in such behaviors as overeating, smoking, drinking to excess, and not getting enough sleep—and these are linked to abnormal fluctuation in blood pressure.

The good news is that there are various Essential Oils that will help with balancing out blood pressure in situations where there is either a temporary or long-term change. These include:

• Ylang Ylang

• Helichrysum

• Petitgrain

• Marjoram

Also known as “Wintersweet” or “Joy of the Mountains,” MARJORAM was known to the Greeks and Romans as a symbol of happiness.

PRIMARY BENEFITS

• Valued for its calming properties and positive effect on the nervous system when taken internally.

• Supports a healthy immune system when consumed.

• May promote a healthy cardiovascular system when ingested.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

DIFFUSION: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.
INTERNAL USE: Dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid.
TOPICAL USE: Apply one to two drops to desired area. Dilute with Fractionated Coconut Oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.

QUESTION – WOULD YOU PREFER TO USE MARJORAM INTERNALLY, TOPICALLY, OR DIFFUSED?
